NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE GLENDENE COMMUNITY SOCIETY 

This is to give Notice that the Annual General Meeting of the Glendene Community Society will be held at the Glendene Community Hub, 82 Hepburn Road, Glendene on Thursday the 26 October 2023 at 7.00pm. 

 

An Agenda for this Annual General Meeting will be sent out by Thursday 12 October 2023. 

 

Notice is given of the Formal Motion to change the Society’s Constitution and will be put to the vote at this Annual General Meeting.  

 

Motion 1  

Currently  

16. Obligations of Members 
16.1 All members (and board members) shall promote the purposes of the Society and shall do nothing to bring the Society into disrepute. 

Seeking to add an additional clause 16.2 to safeguard members from illegal activities that undermine the governance of the society and the safety of its member’s.

Proposed 

16.2:  If a member of the Glendene Community Society engages in or is an accomplice to illegal activity such as stealing from the society confidential information or physical goods, and/or physical or sexual assault, they will automatically forfeit their membership of the Society. A record of this individual’s behaviour will be kept by the Society to safeguard future members.

 

Motion 2 

Currently  

4.3 Staff employed by the Society can also be members of the Society. However, no staff member employed by the Society can be a member of the board. 

Seeking to add an additional clause 4.4 to protect the democracy and independence of the Society.

Proposed 

4.4:  Staff who have been dismissed by the Society cannot be a member of the Glendene Community Society. A record of these individuals will be kept by the Society to safeguard future membership. 

 

Notice of any other Formal Motion must be given to the Secretary at 7 days (ie before Thursday 19 October 2023) before the meeting so that proper notice and preparations can be taken. 

 

Nominations for the Board close at 5pm on Thursday 19 October 2023 and completed forms must be sent to the Secretary (secretary@glendenecommunity.org.nz) by then.
